Who We Are

Founded in Melbourne and headquartered in Oakleigh, Barton Care is one of Australia's leading healthcare staffing agencies. With a team of over 600 healthcare professionals, we provide registered nurses, enrolled nurses, personal care assistants, and facility support staff to aged care homes and hospitals across Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, and the ACT.

Our name is inspired by Clara Barton, the pioneering nurse who founded the American Red Cross. Her unwavering commitment to caring for others is the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.

Registered NDIS Provider

I support the NDIS

Barton Care is a registered provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We supply qualified Disability Support Workers to NDIS participants and provider organisations across Victoria.

Our NDIS workers complete mandatory screening including NDIS Worker Screening Checks, National Police Checks, and role-specific Learn2Care training modules covering disability awareness, person-centred care, and NDIS Practice Standards.

As a registered provider, Barton Care meets the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's requirements for worker screening, incident management, and complaint handling — giving participants and plan managers confidence that every worker we place meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

Learn2Care

Our in-house eLearning platform, Learn2Care, offers 27 purpose-built courses across 4 care streams — aged care, home care, NDIS, and core compliance — making us one of the only agencies in Australia with this capability.

Every Barton Care staff member completes mandatory Learn2Care certification before their first shift. The platform is also available to the public, with all 11 Core compliance courses offered free. New courses are added regularly.

Staff Compliance Portal

Our Staff Compliance Portal gives client facilities real-time access to every Barton Care worker's credentials, checks, and training certificates. In an era of tightening regulatory scrutiny from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, this transparency isn't a nice-to-have — it's essential.

The Barton Story

Clarissa “Clara” Harlowe Barton (1821–1912) was a pioneering American nurse, teacher, and humanitarian. During the Civil War she earned the name “Angel of the Battlefield” for her tireless work tending to wounded soldiers, often at great personal risk. In 1881 she founded the American Red Cross and led it for over two decades.

Clara Barton believed that care should never be withheld because of circumstance. She organised supply chains, mobilised volunteers, and set standards for compassionate, organised healthcare delivery that endure to this day.

Barton Care was founded on these same principles. We are a nurse-led organisation — our leadership team are registered nurses who understand the realities of the job. We believe every aged care resident and every hospital patient deserves consistent, high-quality care delivered by people who genuinely care.
